It was Martin Luther King who wisely told us how important it is to step forward even when we can't see the entire staircase. With time, I have come to realize that life's great achievers very often never felt equal to the task when they first began, but they took the first step anyway. In my own life, I have come to accept that the things I am passionate about, the talents and gifts with which I believe I have been endowed, are not phenomenal. They don't make me stand out in a crowd. But I have purposed in my heart to use them....every day of my life, on this my journey of becoming. And, wonder of wonders, I have found that with each new investment of effort...with every resolve to give a little of these gifts to the world.....bit by bit, I feel closer to the vision I have for myself...and, better yet, far more within reach of my remarkable pre-ordained destiny.
But you've got to make up your mind. You must believe that what you bring to the table matters. That your gift counts. That you count. That you are uniquely qualified to unwrap the gits you have to offer. That no matter how many look like it, sound like it, are better than it....you must lay yours on the table anyway. You owe it to the world to unveil and unpack your uncommon contribution, to step into the path that leads to you destiny.
Consistent action is all it takes. Action. Tiny actions. Insignificant action. Action without audience, maybe. But action, nonetheless. Your feeling of self worth demands it. Your destiny bids you answer the call. You know it. Even now you see your legacy gracefully reflected from the as yet unpainted walls of your amazing future. Your destiny awaits you. Go ahead. Answer the call.
